What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine-based approach to treating a variety of conditions by triggering specific points on the skin with needles. Acupuncture is a minimally invasive method to stimulate nerve-rich areas of the skin surface in order to influence tissues, gland, organs, and various functions of the body. Each acupuncture needle is placed in a specific point on the arm or leg, causing little to no discomfort. This produces an effect on the nervous system to let the body know it needs to respond. This response can include stimulation of the immune system, a reduction in anxiety, promotion of blood circulation to a specific area, wound healing, pain modulation and many more. Acupuncture is no longer viewed as an alternative medicine with the World Health Organisation (WHO) endorsing Chinese Medicine as an effective treatment for a wide variety of conditions.

Acupuncture aims to restore balance to your nervous system and body. The result of this is wide spread. When you’re relaxed and healthy, your body physically reflects that too. Your mood, mental health, and general well-being have a huge influence on your physical health. By bringing your nervous system into a relaxed state, the body can then do what it does best and heal what needs to be healed. Thus, acupuncture aims to assist people in achieving balance and as a result, provide relief for many ailments.
